How do I register?

In 2024 players only need to register in SQUADI. Please follow the link below to detailed instructions.

Which team will my child be in?

U5-U12 Local Competition players are grouped into teams by the BFC coaches. These non-competitive games are run in-house, so all players will see, compete against and occasionally train with their friends and school mates. They will also quickly make friends with their new team members. U12-U16 players participating in the FQ Northern Townsville Competition will attend age group sorting session during pre-season.  Players will be advised of the team formation depending on numbers.

 

Which age group is my child?

A players age if determined by the age they will be turning in the calendar year of the current season. So, if they turn 8 in the current calendar year they will participate in the U8 competition.  Special circumstances will be taken into account regarding age groups, please contact us if you require further details.

 

Who is the junior team coach?

Most of our BFC coaches are parent-coaches with the exception of a few of our senior players.  These coaches are supported by our Club Coaching Coordinator and Committee. Coaches can’t do everything and may require help with skill drills and activities at training and substitutions etc on game day. We encourage ALL parents to get involved and offer their assistance to their child’s coach.

 

When is junior training and games?

Training days and times for each team will be confirmed closer to the start of the season.  Parents must be in attendance at these sessions and are encouraged to assist the coach if necessary in training for younger teams. U5-U12 Local Competition Games are played on Saturday morning, a draw will be emailed to club members and posted on our facebook page. Players are expected to arrive for games a minimum of 15 minutes prior to the start time. U12-U16 FQ Northern Townsville Competition games are also held on Saturday however games times vary.

 

How long does the junior season run for?

Pre-season normally commences in February and the season begins in March.  Competition rounds run throughout the year until September school holidays.  Games are not played during school holidays.

Can my child wear tagged football boots or only sand shoes?

All players can wear moulded boots.  It is compulsory that all players wear shin pads during training and games.

What size ball should I buy for home use?

Size 5 : U14 and above

Size 4 : U10-U13

Size 3 : U5-U9 

What costs are involved and what do I receive?

2023 U5-U12 Local Competition Player Membership is $280

 

U5-U12 Local Competition players receive:

1x training session per week

1x game each weekend

1x pair of playing socks

1x pair of playing shorts

1x training shirt

 

Do you accept Fair Play Vouchers?

Yes, BFC do accept these vouchers. Visit https://www.qld.gov.au/recreation/sports/funding/fairplay/apply

What are the requirements of parents?
Parent participation is essential in supporting and assisting in the running of the club. It is a requirement and expected that all parents contribute to the club in a voluntary capacity with activities such as:

  • coaching or managing a team (we recognise this role is not for everyone)

  • set-up and pack-away of playing pitches on matchday (goals, nets, corner flags, bins etc)

  • referee games in the absence of a team coach

  • offer assistance to team coach at training and game day

  • participate in fundraising ventures, club events etc

  • assist in canteen when rostered 

Our club has many jobs that can occupy small or large amounts of your time; from helping keep the fields in order, to working from home on your computer. Volunteers are most welcome in our football community, to find out what you can do to help us continue to grow our wonderful club please contact us.

 

How do I find out what is going on at the Club?
The best way to stay up-to-date with happenings is to ‘Like’ Burdekin FC on Facebook and access our Website for Newsletter and updated club information. We also hold monthly committee meetings, all are welcome to attend.

 

Who do I contact for further information?
The pre-season period is an extremely busy time for BFC committee, so please check the website and facebook page to see if the information you are after is there. If you cannot find what you are after, please e-mail the secretary at burdekinfc@hotmail.com  All committee members have jobs and families and are involved on a voluntary basis. If it takes a little while for a response, please be patient.
